Boyfriend Fit Guide

The Boyfriend cut is one of the newer styles in denim. This style gets its name from the popular idea of a woman wearing the jeans from the closet of her boyfriend. It was made popular when celebrities like Katie Holmes began to be photographed wearing these baggy jeans around town with their casual outfits. Designers realized there was a way to wear men’s pants to look feminine and still maintain the comfort of a baggy feel and voila, boyfriend jeans were created!

This cut seems like it would be more difficult for women to wear but it actually one of the most comfortable styles. The best way to wear it is with a belt and because the legs run longer than an average pair of women’s jeans, they may need to be rolled up to be worn comfortably. A lot of designers have taken these things into consideration and have hemmed their boyfriend styles to better fit women.

This is a casual style that can be worn on all different body types. For women that are top heavy, it balances out the proportions of the body. For women that are bottom heavy, they flatter the legs.

Some of the more popular ways to wear this style is with other gender neutral articles of clothing such as shirts, vests, fedora hats and sneakers or sandals. Another great way to wear them is in contrast with feminine items like spaghetti strap shirts, heels and jewellery. No matter how these jeans are worn, they are sure to turn heads and make a great addition to a fashion-forward woman’s wardrobe.
